All campers participate in worship, games, biblical learning, swimming, friendly competitions, and fellowship. All meals and a camp shirt are included in tuition. Cabins & dining hall are air-conditioned. Bunks are all twin-sized, bring bedding (or sleeping bag) to fit. Churches will bunk together with the students they brought (boys with boys, girls with girls) and possibly one or two other churches. Each cabin can accommodate between 12-18 people. Swimming Information - Updated 2025

Appropriate swimwear must be worn in the pool. Swim trunks are required for males. One-piece swimsuit OR tankini that completely covers the midriff is required for females. Modesty is to be taken into consideration when choosing swimwear for camp. Bottom should be covered completely by swimsuit.

Cotton shirts are not permitted. If a cover-up is needed, please provide a rash guard style shirt.

I understand the swimwear regulations and will pack appropriately. If appropriate swimwear is not provided by myself, my child may not be permitted to swim.

Our pool has a roped off shallow end (3 feet) and a deeper end (ranging from 3.5 - 6 feet). All campers are required to take a swim test to enter the pool. ONLY ONE SWIM TEST WILL BE ALLOWED. If they pass the test, they are free to use the entire pool area. Children who do not pass (or those not wishing to take the swim test) are required to remain in the shallow end (3 ft) at all times. Swim bracelets are given to every camper to differentiate levels.

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that if your child is not a strong swimmer, send them with a life jacket or other Coast Guard Certified PFD. The shallow end is not big and gets crowded. With a life jacket or other Coast Guard Certified PFD, your child will have more fun because they will then be able to use the entire pool as long as they are wearing it. Arm floaties (water wings) will not be permitted in the deep end.

The following is for the lifeguard and for reference only. Swim tests will still be required for all campers, even if you mark "My child can swim independently".

  • My child will be able to pass a swim test with ease. Swim test requirements are to swim across the pool without touching the bottom.

  • My child is not yet a strong swimmer. Sending a life jacket or other Coast Guard Certified PFD is highly recommended so they may have use of the entire pool.

  • My child is not yet water safe. Children who do not pass the swim test (or do not wish to try) will be required to remain in the shallow end of the pool (3 ft) unless wearing a life jacket or other Coast Guard Certified PFD. Arm floaties (water wings) will not be allowed into the deep end.

Recreation Activities

We have various recreational activities for students. Please select specific activities only if your child CANNOT participate.

Cell Phone Policy (as of Nov 2024)

Students are encouraged to leave cell phones at home in order for us to fulfill our mission to help students "disconnect from the world". Students who bring their cell phones to camp will be required to hand them over to their youth/children's minister upon arrival to be placed in a secure lock box for the entirety of camp.

By checking this box, you (the parent) are indicating you have discussed this cell phone policy with your student and they understand they are required to put their cell phone in a secure lock box while at Camp Sooner.

Build Up, Send Out Campaign

Our board and directors have developed a strategic plan to make repairs and improvements to our grounds and facilities. Our hope is to make significant improvements over the next few years. That's why we started the Build Up, Send Out campaign, a fundraising and construction effort with the goal of raising funds to make these projects possible.

Phase 1: Pool Remodel (completed in 2021)

Phase 2: Building Repairs, Siding, Retaining Wall (current)

Phase 3: Cabin Remodel

If you feel led to give any amount towards this campaign, please indicate that here. As with all building campaigns, if everyone gives a little, it goes a long way.
